Yup, They’re Real: Geek A Week Series One Launches Today!

For the past few days, you may have noticed that I’ve been talking about some awesome things coming your way soon. Well, today is the day that I can tell you about the awesome that is heading toward you. Right now.
As you know, for the past year, I’ve been illustrating these trading cards for my project Geek A Week. And one of the most asked questions is “Are these going to be a real set of cards? Because I would like totally buy them.” Well, I am proud to say that as of today, thanks to my friends at ThinkGeek.com, the Geek A Week cards are a reality.
Starting today, you will be able to buy the first eight cards in Series One of Geek A Week. This set includes Jonathan Coulton, Fred Seibert, Veronica Belmont, John Scalzi, Rifftrax, Bonnie Burton, MC Frontalot and Ken Plume. The cards are a limited run and if they are popular enough, they will be available in waves of eight until the complete set is done.
Along with this launch, ThinkGeek and I have put together one of the most awesome set of Ebay auctions you can imagine. Not only will be have signed packs of cards by the first eight geeks, but I’ve also assembled an amazing roster of items collected from some of the geeks I have featured in Geek A Week. Take a listen to some of these items:
- Authentic road spikes from the “Spy Car Episode” of Mythbusters signed by Adam Savage.
- Comb honey from Neil Gaiman’s private apiary signed by Neil and Sharon Stiteler
- Mythbuster Bobbleheads of Grant, Tory and Buster
- Copy of the hardcover book “Beautiful Mutants” signed by Mark Mothersbaugh
- A signed copy of “When I Grow Up” By “Weird Al” Yankovic
- Issue #1 of “The Guild” comic book signed by the entire cast
And that’s just for starters. Check out the complete roster of auctions here. All the proceeds from these auctions go to benefit Child’s Play and the EFF, so you can geek out and feel good about it at the same time.
Thank you to all of you for your support through this project. Please pick up a set of the first set of cards. I would be most appreciative. I am looking forward to wrapping up Geek A Week with a bang next week. One more geek to go!
